§ 01Free tools
How your page looks in Google, before it goes live.
Write the title and description; the preview measures them in pixels, as Google does, and shows you exactly where they would be cut, on desktop and on mobile.

§ 02Guide
A result worth clicking.
The title and description are the first things a client sees before reaching your website. They do not directly influence rankings, but they decide whether the result is chosen.
The title
- Keep within about 600 pixels (around 55–60 characters): beyond that length, Google cuts the title.
- Put what the client is searching for first, for example the service and the town, and the company name at the end.
- Every page has its own title; identical titles make Google’s choice harder.
The description
- Between 120 and 160 characters: enough to persuade, without being cut.
- Say what the client receives and what to do next: a price, a timeframe, a call to action.
- Google may replace the description with an excerpt from the page if it considers it a better match for the search.
The lengths are indicative: Google measures the available space in pixels, and wide letters (M, W) take up more room than narrow ones (i, l).
